The Hero is Light – Directed by Eduardo Yague
The whole film is narrated and is in black and white. The narrator describes the Bolsheviks, Stalin, and the secret police. This is set at a time when Russia was the Soviet Union. It describes an artist arrested leaving her daughter behind and work burned. The artist is then sent to Siberia. She describes the years attended there. She attempts to create art while there with whatever she could get. After she is released, she returned to a different world. Her husband was dead. Years pass as she shows his horrors of prison through his artistry. The memory of it was all that she could paint now. Viewers couldn’t understand what was really behind the brush strokes the artist made. Only she knew the truths behind what she painted, the horrors she witnessed.
